PILATES - more than just an exercise - Pilates is for life!

A method of body conditioning that was developed nearly 100 years ago by Joseph Pilates.
It is unique because, unlike other forms of exercise, the technique works on strengthening, lengthening and toning muscles, targeting the deep postural muscles and building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it back into alignment. This leads to a stronger, leaner and more streamlined physique.

The postural re-alignment achieved by these gentle stretching and strengthening exercises is beneficial in many other ways, leading to significant improvement in breathing, circulation and digestion, boosting the immune system and increasing oxygen levels, leaving you feeling re-energised, relaxed and with a greater sense of well-being.

Pilates is suitable for all ages and all abilities, and can be practised at many levels:
• By sports men and women to maintain their strength and flexibility, and to improve balance and coordination which is so important in helping to prevent overstrain and injury.
• For those who are keen to rehabilitate after injury, accident or surgery.
• Beneficial and relaxing for expectant mums, and excellent for post-natal mums wishing to regain their figures.
• For the more mature, - 50s, 60s and 70s,  gentle exercise that will hugely increase fitness levels whilst avoiding strain on heart, lungs and joints.
• For those wishing to alleviate back problems and pain, - an absolute must.

Class sessions (max 10 people) are held on Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings at St. Andrews Church Hall, Limpsfield Chart.
